Come on Retreat
Spring: March 10th-12th (fully booked)
Summer: July 14th-16th
Autumn: October 20th-22nd
The purpose of retreat is to take time out from routine activities and have the opportunity to meditate and focus fully on spiritual practice. The teaching is Advaita Vedanta and the Self enquiry meditation of Atma Vichara. Receiving instruction in a live setting through a teacher who can guide and interpret brings the powerful current of self awareness fully alive. The benefits are increased personal insight, inspiration, confidence of practice and an invigoration for spiritual living. YogaLiving has conducted residential retreats for the past 20 years and has skill in delivering high quality and meaningful retreat experiences.
Abbey house is a spacious and comfortable 18th century retreat house in the centre of Glastonbury, Somerset and set alongside Glastonbury Abbey. The location and the surrounding area has drawn spiritual seekers for centuries. There is open access to the ancient Abbey grounds, to Glastonbury Tor and the historic town. Accommodation is in mostly single rooms with some twins and is of good yet simple quality.
Who should attend?
From all backgrounds in life people are drawn together to receive these timeless, beautiful teachings and to be directly guided in meditation. The retreat is relevant for those already developed in this knowledge who are seeking further clarity, those with some experience who are currently developing and those who may have little experience but feel a passionate and compelling interest in realising the Self and a desire to be in these nourishing spiritual energies. The teachings are conveyed so that they speak to all with poignancy and meaning. This is the immediacy of spiritual communication. Some background in meditation is expected.

The weekend will be taught and led by Derek Thorne; a highly gifted, fluent and original teacher, he leads YogaLiving supporting individuals to realise the teachings of Atma Vichara in everyday life.
The programme consists of 10 separate guided sessions directed through discourse, silence, tuition and guided meditation. Chanting from the Vedas establishes a timeless spiritual atmosphere. Participants sit in chairs or on the floor as they choose. Free time is included enabling people to roam the garden or rest. The nature is beautiful and there is opportunity for walking. Outside of the sessions silence is maintained throughout the weekend, enabling quietness in the house for sitting, relaxing, and absorbing the teachings. A question and answer session takes place on Saturday evening. Private interviews with the teacher are available during retreat.
The retreats are regularly full and people are advised to book well in advance.
