As a community ashram, YogaLiving has in place a set of arrangements that fulfil its aims to support its members. The arrangements are based around clarifying the teaching, providing guidance and enabling community connections. In developing the community ashram model over time arrangements will continue to evolve; currently they are: Teaching The principle teaching is described in Sphurana a unique book containing an inspired description of what the practice is, what its context is and how it can be applied in life. Sphurana also lists the key traditional sources and the essential works of Sri Ramana Maharshi and others from which further study can be supported. In addition to the book the teacher is available to ashram members for individual guidance. Every year whole day events are held that provide opportunity for more focused practice and engagement with the teachings. Details of the days taking place in March 2007 and October 2007 are given on the practice days page Retreats are a highly significant way to imbibe and embed the practice in the presence of the teacher in a supportive environment without distraction. YogaLiving has run retreats for 12 years and is experienced at delivering events of quality and value. In July 2008 a weekend retreat entitled “Who Am I”? will take place at Abbey House, Glastonbury, Somerset. This is furthering YogaLiving’s vision to promote the accessible teaching of Atma Vichara to all. Further information is available on the Retreats page. A second retreat is held in the winter at the Lam Rim centre in South Wales. This is a discreet event for friends of YogaLiving only and is a chance to be with the teacher and practice. An annual all day event for members of the ashram. Following highly successful events in 2006 and 2007 the third event is now confirmed at the same location for April 2008. This is the name of the YogaLiving community ashram newsletter distributed to ashram members twice a year ensuring the maintenance of connections and providing articles on both the ashram’s activities and key aspects of practice. See a sample back issue of our Ashrama newsletter. The YogaLiving community ashram holds small and informal satsang gatherings approximately six weekly for meditation, support and friendship .These meetings are followed by bhajan (traditional celebratory singing). Satsang meetings are open to sincere spiritual seekers who wish to experience the company of like-minded people. These events have been held at Derek and Sue’s home near Bath and will continue in this location as long as everybody can fit in!
